Global Esports kept its VALORANT Champions Shanghai run alive by defeating EDward Gaming 2-0 on October 2. The Pacific representative controlled Summit 13-5 and closed Sunset 13-6, eliminating the home-region favorite in two maps. Global now advances to the Group B decider against LOUD, while EDG exits before the playoffs.
Global selected Summit and immediately justified the choice. Its Chamber and Sage structure slowed EDG’s preferred fights, while UdoTan repeatedly found the first contact needed to keep the defense moving. A 7-0 opening forced EDG to play from a severe economy and information deficit before its own composition had time to settle.
EDG recovered several late rounds once stew’s Operator became available, trimming the halftime score to 8-4. That response made the map competitive enough to demand discipline from Global after the side change, but it did not erase the strategic gap created during the opening sequence.
Global won another pistol and then converted the critical bonus through a PatMen ace. The round pushed the lead to 10-4 and denied EDG the stable rifle economy it needed for a prolonged comeback. Smoggy answered once with three Stinger kills, yet Global’s attack remained direct and coordinated enough to finish Summit 13-5.

Global kept control when Sunset tightened
Sunset began differently. EDG took the pistol, the anti-eco and the bonus to establish an early advantage on its own map pick. Global did not chase the deficit with rushed plays. A five-round response built around xavi8k’s Omen restored control, and the teams reached the side change with Global ahead 7-5.
Kr1stal helped Global secure the second-half pistol, but EDG prevented another clean bonus conversion. That exchange created the last realistic opening for the Chinese side. The score remained close enough for one defensive hold to change the economy, and EDG still had experienced players in the positions required to slow the attack.
UdoTan ended that possibility with a concentrated burst of impact. He produced 11 kills across four rounds as Global repeatedly broke EDG’s defensive setups. The Pacific team reached the finish without allowing the map to drift into a late-round contest and completed the 13-6 win in considerably cleaner fashion than its opening loss to Vitality.
The sweep reflected more than favorable shooting rounds. Global changed the pace between maps, used different Duelist arrangements and continued to create useful engagements even after EDG won early economic exchanges. Its players were rarely forced to solve every round through isolated heroics.
For EDG, the defeat continued a difficult tournament for the Chinese field. TYLOO and Xi Lai Gaming had already been eliminated, making EDG the third representative from the host region to leave Shanghai. The result is especially severe because EDG arrived with a reputation for performing on international stages and still could not extend either map.
The map scores also show how little margin EDG created after its brief recoveries. Summit moved from a 7-0 start to an 8-4 half, but the bonus ace stopped the comeback. Sunset opened 3-0 for EDG, yet Global won the more important run once full-buy rounds became consistent. In both cases, early resistance failed to become sustained control.
LOUD is the final Group B obstacle
Global’s next opponent is LOUD in the Group B decider. The Brazilian roster opened Champions with a sweep over EDG before losing to Team Vitality, so both teams now enter the match with direct evidence against the same eliminated opponent.
That comparison does not decide the series. Global’s compositions on Summit and Sunset exposed several strengths, while LOUD will have time to prepare for the exact utility patterns that worked against EDG. Global must retain its confidence without making the veto and opening plans too easy to read.
The winner will join Vitality in the playoffs and the loser will leave Shanghai. Global has earned that opportunity through a complete elimination performance: it built an early lead on its own map, recovered from an early deficit on EDG’s pick and closed both maps before overtime became a factor.

Global Esports eliminated EDward Gaming with 13-5 and 13-6 victories at Champions Shanghai. PatMen’s bonus-round ace and UdoTan’s late Sunset run highlighted a controlled team performance. Global now faces LOUD for the final Group B playoff berth.
