T1 Sweeps FUT for First Champions Playoffs

T1 claimed the last place in the Champions Shanghai playoffs by defeating FUT Esports 2-0 in the Group A decider. Both Sunset and Ascent ended 13-10, but the maps reached that score through different patterns. T1 protected an early Sunset advantage, then recovered from a 6-2 deficit on Ascent to secure the organization’s first Champions playoff appearance.

Sunset was T1’s selection, even though neither team had played the map in two months. FUT chose an aggressive double-Duelist composition with Waylay and Neon. T1 answered with Meteor on Chamber and Munchkin on Sage, keeping the Sentinel pairing it had shown earlier in the group.

T1 won the opening pistol and bonus rounds, then mixed fast attacks with slower defaults. iZu’s round-six one-versus-four created the most dramatic moment of the half and helped T1 establish a 5-1 lead. FUT adjusted before the break and reduced the margin, leaving T1 ahead 7-5 rather than allowing the map to escape completely.

FUT won the second pistol and bonus to tie the score at 7-7. That recovery shifted the pressure onto T1, which could no longer rely on the early cushion. The Korean side responded through a combination of a three-kill iZu round, a firm B-site hold and a low-economy conversion, closing the map 13-10 without allowing FUT to take a late lead.

A decisive individual escape changes the momentum on Sunset

T1 solves a difficult start on Ascent

FUT selected Ascent and continued with an assertive double-Duelist approach, placing s0pp on Jett and xeus on Phoenix. T1 again trusted Meteor’s Chamber and Munchkin’s Sage. The familiarity did not produce an easy beginning: FUT won the pistol and bonus before extending its attacking advantage to 6-2.

T1’s response began with an eco victory in round nine. Instead of treating the half as lost, the team used that disruption to make FUT work through a damaged economy. An iZu 4K in round twelve completed the recovery and brought the teams level at 6-6 when they changed sides.

stax then delivered a 4K in the second-half pistol sequence, helping T1 move ahead 8-6. The rest of the half remained competitive, with an eco win, Odin pressure and a one-versus-one among the pivotal moments. T1’s defaults continued to pull apart FUT’s defensive positions, and a second 13-10 map completed the sweep.

iZu was the central individual performer on both maps. His Fade finished Sunset with 26 kills, 13 deaths and three assists for a 1.67 rating. On Ascent he posted 20 kills, 14 deaths and six assists with a 1.42 rating. The numbers were supported by influence in the exact rounds where the shape of each half changed.

T1’s victory was not based on winning every opening cycle. FUT took important pistols and constructed a four-round advantage on Ascent. The difference was T1’s ability to use low-economy rounds as recovery points, then follow those surprises with organized full-buy attacks rather than treating them as isolated highlights.

FUT’s aggressive compositions created pace and early control, especially on its own map pick. They became harder to sustain once T1 slowed the round and forced the defenders to read several possible endpoints. The final score on both maps reflects a close contest, while the 2-0 series score reflects T1’s stronger closing decisions.

A first Champions playoff run begins

The qualification is T1’s first appearance in the Champions playoffs. That milestone came through the lower route in Group A after an opening loss to 100 Thieves and an elimination victory over JD Gaming. Beating FUT completed a recovery that required two consecutive wins under elimination pressure.

FUT exits after opening the group with a victory over JD Gaming, then losing to 100 Thieves and T1. The roster reached competitive positions in the decider and tied Sunset after the break, but it could not turn those periods into a map win. Its season ends with evidence of effective early pressure and a clear need for more reliable closing structures.

T1 now moves from a survival match into a double-elimination playoff bracket. The team can draw confidence from solving two distinct problems in the same series: defending a lead that disappeared and rebuilding a map after trailing 6-2. Both experiences are relevant when every playoff opponent has already qualified through a demanding group.

T1 rebuilds its formation during the Ascent comeback

T1 took the final Shanghai playoff place by winning Sunset and Ascent 13-10. iZu led both maps, while low-economy recoveries kept T1 composed when FUT threatened to control the series. The 2-0 victory gives T1 its first Champions playoff appearance and ends FUT’s run.
