100 Thieves qualified for the VALORANT Champions Shanghai playoffs with a 2-0 victory over FUT Esports on September 30. The Americas champion won FUT’s Split pick 13-5 and closed its own Lotus selection 13-10. The result gives 100 Thieves a 2-0 group record, while FUT moves to the Group A decider.
Split immediately changed the shape of the series. FUT selected the map but managed only three attacking rounds and two on defense. 100 Thieves built a six-round halftime lead and converted four of the next six rounds, preventing FUT from creating the economy or momentum needed for a serious comeback.
Lotus was more competitive. FUT reached eight rounds on defense and kept the score close after the side switch, but 100 Thieves completed a 13-10 finish without requiring overtime. The three-round margin forced the Americas side to protect a narrower advantage than it had on Split and showed that the sweep did not depend on two identical game states.
The winning production was distributed. Timotino led 100 Thieves with 31 kills across the two maps, while bang finished with 27 and vora with 25. Each of those three players ended with a positive kill-death differential. That spread made it harder for FUT to solve the match by shutting down one entry point or one late-round player.

100 Thieves controlled the veto from the start
Winning an opponent’s map pick 13-5 placed 100 Thieves in the strongest possible position. FUT had chosen Split as the map most likely to create an early advantage, yet 100 Thieves controlled both halves. The result forced FUT to attempt a recovery on a map selected by the team already leading the series.
Lotus did not become another runaway. FUT’s defense generated enough rounds to make the closing phase meaningful, and the match remained within reach late in regulation. 100 Thieves still converted before the map could reach overtime, preserving the sweep and avoiding the uncertainty of Sunset.
The unused decider matters for future preparation. Sunset remained after both final bans, but neither team had to reveal its plan for the map. For 100 Thieves, that keeps one layer of preparation private before playoffs. For FUT, it means the review must focus on why the team could not turn a competitive Lotus into the third map it needed.
The result confirms the value of 100 Thieves’ opening sweep over T1 without merely repeating that performance. Against FUT, the team faced a different regional style and a different map order, yet again completed the series in two maps. Two sweeps produce a clean group record and minimize the amount of tournament play required to qualify.
FUT’s position is less comfortable but still recoverable. The Turkish organization entered the winners match after a 2-0 victory over JD Gaming, including a 13-1 Ascent. The sharp loss on Split shows how quickly a map advantage can reverse against another opponent, but the ten rounds on Lotus offer more useful evidence for adjustment.
Neither opening result guarantees the decider. FUT will meet a team that has survived an elimination match and corrected at least one earlier defeat. Its preparation must account for both T1 and JDG until that lower match is complete.
Group A now has one playoff place left
The second Group A berth will be decided in two steps. T1 and JD Gaming first meet in an elimination match. The loser leaves Champions, while the winner advances to face FUT. One best-of-three then decides which team joins 100 Thieves in the playoffs.
FUT owns prior experience against JDG from its 2-0 opening victory but has not played T1 at this event. A rematch would provide familiar film while also testing whether JDG has repaired the problems that produced a one-sided Ascent. A match against T1 would require a different veto and preparation package.
100 Thieves no longer needs to solve either branch. The team qualified by defeating T1 and FUT without dropping a map. That is a strong group-stage result, although playoff opponents will have additional time to study the compositions and tendencies shown across Split, Lotus, Summit and Ascent.

100 Thieves won FUT’s Split pick 13-5 and its own Lotus selection 13-10 to reach the Champions Shanghai playoffs. The 2-0 result completes an unbeaten group run. FUT remains alive and will face the winner of T1 versus JD Gaming for the second Group A place.
