Romanian duelist Denis-Stefan “kozzy” Aionitoaei has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Gentle Mates for the 2027 VCT EMEA season. Sheep Esports says the Enterprise Esports prospect chose the French organization after attracting several offers. The club has not announced the signing, and kozzy’s age could make him unavailable for the opening event.
Kozzy entered 2026 as a largely unknown player and ended it as one of the most closely watched prospects in EMEA. Enterprise won the VALORANT EMEA Clash, its regional North and East stage and two Challengers EMEA titles. Those results moved the team from domestic competition into matches against established VCT organizations.
The Play-In supplied the most relevant comparison. Enterprise advanced far enough to face top-level opposition and later lost 2-0 to Team Liquid in the lower bracket. Sheep Esports reports that kozzy produced 245 average combat score and 162 average damage per round during that first VCT-level stretch, placing him among the top five in both measures.
Those numbers help explain the interest but should not be stretched into a guarantee. A short high-level sample shows that a young duelist can create impact under greater pressure. A full VCT season requires deeper map preparation, adaptation after opponents study tendencies and consistency across patches.
Eligibility creates an immediate roster question
The reported agreement includes an unusual timing issue. Kozzy was born on February 22, 2010. Sheep Esports says the minimum age for the 2027 VCT circuit is 17, which would make him unavailable for EMEA Kickoff before his birthday.
Gentle Mates would therefore need a compliant opening-event plan if the rule and schedule operate as reported. Possibilities could include another registered player or a later debut, but no interim arrangement has been announced. It would be speculation to assign a substitute or assume the exact matches kozzy will miss before Riot and the organization publish their final calendars and rosters.
The delay does not erase the long-term logic. Signing a player before he becomes eligible can secure development time and reduce competition from other clubs. It also creates risk because the team must build early-season coordination with one lineup and may need to integrate kozzy after official matches have already begun.
Gentle Mates is reportedly constructing a wider project around more than one addition. Separate Sheep Esports reports link the club with Alfajer, Ruxic and coach kaplan. That group would combine established Tier 1 experience with a player whose reputation was built mainly through the 2026 Tier 2 pathway.
Kozzy’s role makes his story different from the other reported moves. The central question is not a long record with a major organization but whether rapid development can continue at the highest regional level. His 2026 statistics support the opportunity; they do not settle how his agent pool and entry responsibilities will fit the completed lineup.
The organization’s competition status is another open variable. Gentle Mates is not yet guaranteed one of the eight 2027 VCT EMEA partner positions. A roster designed for the main league may instead need to navigate another route if Riot’s selection goes elsewhere.
The project needs both confirmation and a timeline
